AGL Preview: Emirates v Sharjah
Klaus-Dieter Pagels: I believe in my team's ability to achieve
Emirates coach Klaus-Dieter Pagels says his side is ready and raring to face Sharjah in Round 10 of the Arabian Gulf League on Saturday and said the players have been demonstrating high spirits and determination in training. "Our draw against Al Wahda in the last round has freed the players of some of their psychological stress and has restored a sense of confidence, so we need to build on this," the German coach said at his pre-match press conference, adding: "We must respect our opponent and Sharjah is a good team. I believe in my players' ability to achieve the desired result."
Giorgos Donis: Happy about young players' performance
Sharjah Head Coach Giorgos Donis leads his side into Saturday's Arabian Gulf League Round 10 trip to Emirates off the back of a comprehensive win over Bani Yas in the last round, and the Greek coach was particularly buoyed by the showing of some of the younger faces in the squad. "We are in a better position now after beating Bani Yas, and I was delighted by the level of performance given by our young players in the absence of four key members of the team, so these are definitely positives to take into the next game," Donis said at his pre-match press conference, continuing: "The game will be difficult because Emirates are organised and got a good draw last round, so now they will be desperate to get a win against us as they are seeking to get out of the danger zone. But I am confident my players have what it takes to do the job."
