Al Ain Hit Al Nasr For Three
Caio Fernandes scored and assisted as Al Ain recorded a thumping 3-0 win against Al Nasr at Matkoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum Stadium in matchweek 3 of the Arabian Gulf League.
The game started with a bang, when Marcus Berg got at the end of a loose ball following a poor tackle by Al Nasr's defender. The Swedish converted from inside the box with a brilliant first touch to give the Boss the lead 15 minutes into the game.
Al Ain doubled their lead at the half hour mark, when Caio sent an in-swinging cross from the corner-kick for Japanese defender Tsukasa Shiotani, whose powerful header nestled into the back of the net.
Caio turned from producer to scorer, when Masoud Suleiman scuffled with Hussein El Shahat inside the box, compelling the referee to point to the spot and award the Boss a penalty kick, that was calmly converted by the Brazilian past Mohamed Yousef in the 74th minute.
The hosts’ night was summed up with a missed penalty kick from new signing Alvaro Negredo. The Spaniard’s poorly executed effort from the spot in the dying moments was rescued by Khaled Eisa who secured the clean sheet for his side.
Following the win, Al Ain temporarily occupy second spot with the full mark from three games ahead of their clash against Shabab Al Ahli next week. Meanwhile, Al Nasr occupy the 13th league spot with zero points and will face Kalba in matchweek 4 of the Arabian Gulf League.
